In Scandinavian mythology, Freya was a leader of the Valkyries and had dominion over Folkvangr, where half of fallen warriors resided. Worship of Freya was prominent from the Viking Age (8th–11th centuries) across Scandinavia and earlier Germanic regions. She was revered in fertility rituals and magical practices, particularly in Sweden and Iceland, where her influence remained strong.
