Description

Product description

This statue replica is inspired by early Archaic representations of Pegasus discovered at Olympia and now preserved in the Archaeological Museum of Olympia. Dating to the 8th century BC, such figures were crafted in Ancient Greece, particularly in regions like Corinth and the Peloponnese, where the myth of Pegasus held strong cultural significance.

Pegasus, the divine winged horse born from Medusa’s blood, symbolized poetic inspiration, power, and the connection between earth and the divine. Small sculptural figures like this were commonly dedicated at sanctuaries as votive offerings to the gods, especially Zeus at Olympia. They reflect the stylized forms and bold silhouettes typical of the Greek Archaic era, emphasizing movement and mythic presence over anatomical realism.

This piece captures the dynamic rearing posture and uplifted wings that made Pegasus an enduring emblem of transcendence and heroic legend.
