Odysseus, or Ulisses in roman, king of Ithaca, is renowned for his ten-year journey home after the Trojan War, recounted in Homer’s Odyssey. His voyage was fraught with trials, including encounters with the Cyclops Polyphemus, the enchantress Circe, and the Sirens. He endured the wrath of Poseidon and the temptation of immortality from Calypso. Despite these hardships, his wit and perseverance ensured his return to Ithaca, where he reclaimed his kingdom and reunited with his faithful wife, Penelope.
