Product description

This bonded bronze statue depicts Miltiades, the Athenian general renowned for his pivotal role in the Battle of Marathon (490 BCE). He is portrayed in full armor, wielding a sword and shield, exuding strength and leadership. Miltiades (c. 550–489 BCE) was a key figure in repelling the Persian invasion during the Greco-Persian Wars. Leveraging innovative military tactics, he led the Athenian forces to a decisive victory, preserving Greek independence and democracy. Later, he led an unsuccessful campaign against Paros, resulting in his political downfall. Despite his tragic end, Miltiades is celebrated for his enduring legacy in ancient Greek military history.
