Late Archaic- Corinthian Helmet 12,5 cm

The Corinthian helmet is one of the most recognizable symbols of ancient Greek warfare. Originating in the city of Corinth during the Archaic period, this helmet type rose to prominence between the 7th and 5th centuries BCE and became the standard protection for hoplite soldiers across Greece. Its design fully enclosed the head, leaving narrow openings for the eyes and mouth, offering exceptional protection on the battlefield while projecting an unmistakable presence.

Archaeological examples have been discovered at major sanctuaries such as Olympia and Delphi, often dedicated as votive offerings after victory. The helmet was also widely used in southern Italy, known in antiquity as Magna Graecia, reflecting the spread of Greek culture through colonization and warfare. Over time, the Corinthian helmet evolved from practical armor into a powerful cultural symbol, frequently depicted in sculpture, pottery, and coinage, representing the ideal of the disciplined Greek warrior.
