Description

Product description

This sculpture is a copy of the famous Archaic Horse Figurine, a type of votive offering discovered on the Acropolis of Athens and dating to the 6th century BCE. Such figures were originally dedicated to the gods by worshippers seeking favor, protection, or expressing gratitude. The horse held exceptional importance in Archaic Greek society, representing wealth, nobility, and martial strength, as ownership of horses was closely tied to elite status.

Archaic horse figurines are characterized by their stylized proportions, elongated legs, and poised stance, reflecting the artistic conventions of the Archaic period, when Greek sculptors focused on symbolic form rather than naturalistic detail. These offerings were commonly placed in sanctuaries across Attica and other regions of mainland Greece.
