This bonded bronze figurine represents Tyr, the Norse god of war, justice, and oaths, standing alongside the great wolf Fenrir. Tyr is depicted as strong and fearless, with his right hand missing—lost when he bravely bound Fenrir to protect the gods. Worshiped primarily in early Germanic and Viking Age Scandinavia (pre-8th–11th century), Tyr was revered as a god of honor and sacrifice. His name survives in "Tuesday" (Tyr’s Day). Though his prominence declined as Odin and Thor grew more central, he remained a symbol of courage and duty. His legacy endures in mythology, law, and warrior traditions
