The self-growing olive tree throughout the Mediterranean has been exploited since antiquity by its peoples who had at their disposal this blessed tree. In addition to its supply of olive oil, it also offered its trunk for wood, which is characterized by high density, hardness and durability. Its fibers are either straight or twisted lightly, in different color tones, giving an impressive design. Especially after polishing it gives impressive results. Characteristic of olive wood is also its special color. When it comes from the trunk or branches it has a golden yellow color, with slightly darker lines. But when the piece is from the root, then it has a dark brown color and intricate patterns of lines or rings, making it look like marble. Another special feature is its strong, fruity aroma. A fragrance that lasts for many years and definitely brings to our mind memories from life in the countryside.
This backgammon has been handcrafted, with the method of marquetry.
