Description

Product description

Inspired by the legendary Minotaur of Palace of Knossos, this sculpture reflects the powerful bull symbolism central to the Minoan world of Bronze Age Crete (c. 2000–1400 BCE). The Minotaur—half man, half bull—emerged from myths surrounding King Minos and the labyrinth, embodying strength, ritual power, and the sacred status of the bull in Minoan religion.

Archaeological discoveries at Knossos, including bull-leaping frescoes and ceremonial objects now housed in the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, confirm the prominence of bull iconography in palatial and religious life. Such figures were associated with ceremonial spaces and elite culture across Crete during the height of the Minoan civilization.

This replica captures the stylized features characteristic of Minoan artistic expression—curved horns, detailed texture, and symbolic presence—bringing to life one of the most enduring mythological figures of the ancient Aegean.
