This bonded bronze statue represents Ares, the Greek god of war, standing in full armor with a shield and sword, exuding strength and aggression. Son of Zeus and Hera, Ares embodied the chaotic and brutal nature of battle. Unlike Athena, who symbolized strategic warfare, Ares was associated with bloodlust and destruction. Though feared, he was not widely revered in Greece, except in Sparta. His infamous love affair with Aphrodite led to the birth of notable children, including Eros. Ares played a role in the Trojan War, siding with the Trojans, but was ultimately wounded by Athena and Diomedes.
