Description

Product description

This bonded bronze statue is a replica of Artemis of Versailles, a famous depiction of the Greek goddess of the hunt, wilderness, and moon. She is shown in motion, drawing an arrow, accompanied by a deer. The original marble sculpture, attributed to Leochares in the 4th century BCE, was later replicated by Roman artists. It is currently housed in the Louvre Museum, Paris. In mythology, Artemis, daughter of Zeus and Leto, was a virgin huntress and protector of wildlife. She played a key role in many myths, including the Trojan War and the tale of Actaeon, whom she transformed into a stag.
