Developed during the 7th century BCE in the city of <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Corinth<\/span><\/span>, this helmet type quickly spread throughout the Greek world and became widely used during the Archaic and early Classical periods (7th\u20135th century BCE). Hoplite soldiers from major city-states such as <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Sparta<\/span><\/span> and <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Athens<\/span><\/span> wore this helmet as part of their heavy infantry equipment.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"791\" data-end=\"1128\">Its distinctive design provided both protection and a powerful visual identity. The helmet encloses the head with narrow almond-shaped eye openings, a pronounced nasal guard, and extended cheek pieces that shield the face.
