The work is based on the celebrated Head of Alexander attributed to the renowned Greek sculptor Leochares, one of the leading artists of the late Classical period.

The original sculpture is preserved today in the Acropolis Museum in Athens. These elements became defining traits in later representations of the ruler throughout the Hellenistic world.

The sculpture remains one of the most important surviving portraits of Alexander from the Classical Greek artistic tradition.

A portrait of Alexander the Great inspired by the marble head attributed to Leochares, dating to shortly after 338 BCE and preserved today in the Acropolis Museum, Athens.

[17,18,444,39,396

post-16775","product","type-product","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","product_cat-sculptures","product_cat-bronze-sculptures","product_cat-collection-iv","product_cat-statues","product_cat-busts-2
["GET
