The original statue was discovered in the sea near Cape Artemision and is now preserved in the National Archaeological Museum of Athens, where it is admired for its sense of movement and refined balance.

The figure depicts a young boy riding a dolphin, a subject associated with the Greek fascination with the sea, childhood, and divine protection. Dolphins were regarded as benevolent creatures, often linked to gods such as Apollo and Poseidon, and symbolized harmony between humans and nature. Rather than portraying mythological drama, the statue captures a moment of effortless joy and motion.

Stylistically, the work belongs to the Severe Style, a transitional phase between the Archaic and Classical periods. The naturalistic anatomy, relaxed posture, and subtle expression reflect the emerging Classical ideals of proportion, realism, and restrained vitality that would define Greek sculpture for generations.

Replica of the Boy on a Dolphin, an Early Classical Greek sculpture attributed to Kalamis and housed in the National Archaeological Museum of Athens.

[17,18,446,39,46

post-14893","product","type-product","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","product_cat-sculptures","product_cat-bronze-sculptures","product_cat-collection-ii","product_cat-statues","product_cat-nature
["GET
